Observation

During a complaint visit on 7/31/24 this licensor observed the toddler teacher sitting on the cement floor in the outdoor area. She was not scanning the environment and looking for cues to anticipate problems. The preschool teachers were not checking on children on many occasions with little time in between. There was a group of five children in one corner of the preschool area while the two teachers who counted in ratio were not within sight of the children or aware of what the children were doing. The preschool staff were positioned underneath the tent area and away from this group of children. While waiting in line to transition from outdoor to inside, supervision was not met as children were grabbing the garbage can and the chemicals that were accessible to the children. The staff were unaware that this was occurring because they were attempting to do a name to face roll call as they went inside. Once inside, the children ran around with no clear direction from staff and at one point the staff were unaware that a child was placing her face into a piece of plastic that was coming down from the window near the second exit of the preschool classroom. It posed the risk of suffocation.
